Alonzo C. Jackson's letters to his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Paige, describe the capture of Monterey by United States forces in 1842 and the taking of California in 1846. There are some other letters by Jackson and three by George Bancroft, secretary of the Navy, to A. C. Paige. The letters are housed with a typescript with the title: Conquest of California. 11 items.
